Making her debut in the fashion industry merely three years ago, Liz Bacelar is one of the savviest and most connected ladies in the biz, and notorious for surprising the industry. First in 2013 when she launched Decoded Fashion in collaboration with IMG to produce the first fashion hackathon during New York Fashion week. But then again and again in a series of sold out, high profile events hosted all over the world including London and Milan.
Today, Stylus Media announced yet another one of Bacelar’s shocking surprises with the news of their acquisition of Decoded Fashion. Stylus is a business intelligence and consultancy firm founded by WGSN co-founder Marc Worth that focuses on fostering innovation. Interestingly, Hearst owns a 20% stake in Stylus, though Condé Nast backed Decoded Fashion’s NYFW hackathon and Hearst hosted a competing hackathon around the same time.
Bacelar is extremely keen on scouting talent and supporting the industry by designing and curating groundbreaking technologies. She will continue to lead Decoded Fashion, with Stylus using their resources to help accelerate the expansion of its event series in the U.S., Europe, Asia and South America. “Working with the Stylus Media Group will support our goals to bring valuable insider content on technologies that are changing the face of the fashion industry,” added Bacelar.
We were fortunate enough to travel with Decoded to Milan to produce the event’s live red carpet interviews and know first hand the waves Bacelar is capable of creating. With yet another fashion hackathon set for this May in London, it will be exciting to see the tech collaborations and creative partnerships that come out of the new Decoded Fashion.
