How to Make Hard Choices – You Can Do It

How to Make Hard Choices -

In the space of hard choices, we have the power to create reasons for ourselves to become the distinctive people we are. Understanding that hard choices uncover a hidden power each of us possesses is our missing ingredient. What is that power? The power to write our own stories of our lives, to be the hero of our own movie.

How to Make Hard Choices

  1. Who do I want to be?
  2. What do I stand for?
  3. Write down your goals
  4. Write down what you want to improve
  5. Write down things you’ve done in the past that you will never do again
  6. Write down the actions you can take today to reach your goals
  7. Take action

The more choice people have, the more freedom we have. Drifters allow the world to write the story of their lives. They let mechanisms of rewards and punishment, pats on the heads and fear to determine what to do. You are not a drifter or the co-star of you own movie. You are the hero of your life.

The lesson of hard choices reflect on what we can put our agency behind, on what you can be for. And through hard choices, you become the person you want to be.

Forget about all the financial disasters you’ve had, failed relationships, bad decisions. What would the hero of your life’s movie do right now? DO THAT. We define ourselves far too often by our past failures. No, you are the person who’s learned from those failures. You are the person you are right now and you can choose to be the hero of your own movie right now.

Build confidence and momentum with each decision you make from here on out. Take lessons and transform from each choice. You choose to be inspired.

You may be saying, is that Joe Rogan? YES. While it may be a surprise to see Joey R. on, this video completely inspired the creation of this post along with Ruth Chang’s TED Talk on the very subject of making hard choices.
