Stitch Collective: Crowdsourcing Fashion Using Social Marketing

Stitch Collective

TGIF Fashion Innovators! I have some major Friday news for you.

Stitch Collective has captured the power of social in luxury fashion, using consumer feedback, that’s YOU, to create on-trend designer accessories. Your dreams of having the same voting power as Heidi Klum in Project Runway have become a reality! Ha, I’ve gotten your attention.

So this is how it works. Stitch creates a specific design challenge and puts out a call to designers, designers submit their sketches, the community votes for a favorite, then Stitch manufactures and sells the winning design.

Stitch debuted with their “City Bag Challenge” and in four short weeks received over 4,000 votes and made 2.5 million impressions to their site. So what does a savvy, digital fashion team do spread their challenge virally? They integrateWishpond’s Social Marketing Suite to expand their reach by creating a mobile optimized voting contest directly on their site and launching promotions across various social channels including Facebook and Twitter.

Familiar with many other social marketing suite’s, I gotta say, Wishpond seems pretty killer. With real-time reporting, a robust Social Contact Database and deep analytic insights, Stitch was able to capture voter’s demographic, geo-location and contact information without any digging or complication. This insight then made it very easy to reach those highly engaged target groups that could turn into potential customers. Loni Edwards, Founder and CEO says “The analytical features provided insights on our voters and gave us a breakdown of who voted for each sketch which allowed us to target our emails appropriately. The other companies we considered didn’t give as much detail.”

With the success of the first challenge, Stitch now uses Wishpond for other promotions such as sweepstakes and Pinterest contests. Even more exciting, Stitch has now partnered with The Cut and other fashion insiders to create more limited edition crowd-sourced bags. Let’s get to voting!

So, I know you’re dying to know the winner of the “City Bag Challenge”. Drumroll please……Omar Aguirre! He describes his modern and sophisticated handbag as a staple for the avante garde, fearless and energetic metropolitan girl. Oh, and one more thing. Omar’s bag sold out at $465 a pop. Talk about a wining design.

Oh, one more thing. Check out this killer hand-dyed, tie dye leather clutch from their collection. I’m drooling. You know how much I love leather.
